The southern most province of Portugal, bordered between the Atlantic Ocean to the south and the 'Serra de Monchique' mountains to the north. Occupied for centuries by the Moors, who have left their mark in many ways including the style of the white houses and in the culture.

The Algarve offers much more than the beautiful golden sand beaches. Quiet, unspoiled rolling country with quaint villages and lively towns. Vegetable, meat and fish markets in every town and village, good restaurants, good wine and friendly people. Lots of entertainment in the restaurants, clubs and hotels. Excellent shopping in the towns.

The mountains are an excellent place to explore. Rising to 1000 metres high, you will find peace and quiet, beautiful views, little villages with traditional bars and restaurants in which to try the local Piri-Piri chicken.

For golfers there are several of Europe's top courses along the length of the Algarve, including the world famous Penina (designed by Henry Cotton), The Alto Club, Palmares, Vale Do Lobo, Vilamoura, Quinta Do Lago, Carvoeiro and Parque Da Floresta. There are also plenty of other sports available, horse riding, tennis, bowls, water sports and big
game fishing.

There are over 120 miles of coast with some of the best beaches in Europe, most of which fly the blue flag for cleanliness and quality and of course the weather manages to produce over 3000 hours of sunshine a year. In the summer the temperatures are often above 30 degree's centigrade and in the winter usually around 20-25 degrees.
